4 Organic Ways How to Avoid Make-up Sins During the Holidays and Create Healthy Skin.

Holidays and parties go together like New and Year. You have been working on your weight and health to get into that beautiful dress for a special occasion. And you want your body to look awesome. Great!

But is your skin a sin to behold?

Although Halloween is over, would your winter make-up still frighten small children because it looks like a mask on your dry face?

As one of the C3TV hosts of Wicked Housewives On Cape Cod, making sure my make-up is not a sin is important because HD (High Definition) cameras magnify every cosmetic mistake or flaky-flaw, tenfold. And HD smart phone pictures and videos you may wish to post on your social media pages or website do, too.  Yeah, it is not just TV hosts who have to worry about how they photograph, anymore.

Your skin is a breathing organ. It the largest organ you possess and one with which you cannot live.

Therefore, you must care for your skin  and keep it as healthy and beautiful just as your hair, teeth and physique.  It is an organ that is difficult to moisturized from the inside out. Cold weather from outdoors and heated air indoors from homes and workplaces take a toll on skin, especially your face which faces the daily elements.

First impressions are lasting ones. Make them beautiful.

Choose organic moisturizers and makeup whenever possible. You do not want to put harsh, dangerous or toxic chemicals on your organ.  Moisturize twice daily, morning and night, to reduce beauty sins and create glowing results. End your nightly routine and begin your morning one with clean skin that radiates health.

Here are four “skin sins” to avoid with ways to help you make a warm and lasting impression on anyone you meet during the cold winter months.

1.) Dry Skin Sin- use organic whenever possible and apply moisturizer and then primer under make-up foundation. It avoids the “wrinkled map look” that can leave people staring at your face looking for the X that marks the spot.  That spot needs extra moisturizer.

If dog is man’s best friend, primer is woman’s.

Primer can:

a.) hold your makeup in place so it does not “travel” to wrinkles that will begin to look

                    like the Grand Canyons

b.) trap  moisture on your face and keep it from evaporating from beneath your

make-up foundation for that all-day healthy glow.

c.) be tinted and worn alone, without make-up foundation, with glowing results

2.) Dry Lip Sin- apply rich lip moisturizer at night right BEFORE bed, so it has 8 hours to work. This will help you avoid the “prune lips” look with lipstick. Dry cracked lips look painful and appear worse with lipstick.  Keep a lip balm beside your bed. Moisturize again in the morning and dab off any lip balm not absorbed  before applying lipstick. This will keep your lips moist without interfering with the staying power of your lipstick.

3.) Chapped Hands Sin- who wants to shake hands with a red lobster claw?  Apply a rich moisturizer at night BEFORE bed so it works while you sleep. Your hands and face are the first places people look when they meet you. Keep your hand moisturizer beside your bed with your lip balm. Reapply in the morning AFTER your shower and makeup. This will keep the moisturizer on your hands longer. Carry a small container in your purse and apply a small amount of cream to hands throughout the day after you wash them.   If your hands are very chapped, apply moisturizer and then wear a pair of light weight household cleaning gloves while you sleep. This is an old tried-and-true movie star trick. It will keep the moisturizer on your hands, off your sheets, and make them kiss-ably soft.

4.) Powder on Dry Skin Sin- Powder makeup on dry skin makes facial lines look like dried up river beds and draws attention to flaky areas. Powder accentuates sin number one and two. Use liquid rouge, or choose  a foundation one or two shades darker than your regular one and apply it to the apples of your cheeks or on your cheek bones. This will look natural and healthy. Rather than using bronzing powder, use a bronzing cake-makeup or liquid.

Remember, the name of the game during the cold and drying winter months is Moisturize. It can cure a number of dry skin and make-up sins.

Take care of your skin and it will take care of you.

In the film Broadcast News, a neophyte reporter who is intensely happy, asks a veteran newsman what to do when your real life exceeds your dreams. The elder tells the fellow to just keep it to himself. The oddest effect of happiness is that other people are annoyed by it. Misery does love company, so a joyful person poses a threat to those steeped in sorrow. This is so for several reasons:First, people who perceive a reward for being lost, sick, alone, poor, or victimized have an investment in…Continue
